In a modern world of countless screens with pretty colors, display windows packed with appealing potential purchases, and people and images designed to attract, a question arises: how, and why, do we decide what we find appealing? And do we actually decide? Or are those choice influenced by unconscious factors?

In the Fall 2022 "Aesthetics in the Modern World" panel event, an interdisciplinary range of scholars will look into the philosophical field of aesthetics and critically analyze what drives our desires, preferences, and consumption in the 21st century. Q&A to follow the panel discussion.
